Dog Friendly Destinations in Brisbane

Brisbane is a great place to be a pet owner. There are so many facilities dedicated to keeping you and your pet happy and active, and plenty of fantastic destinations to get you outdoors and enjoying life. If you’re looking for somewhere to take your pup, here are some of our favourite dog-friendly destinations in Brisbane.

Hike Mt Coot-tha

Many bush walks are in national parks, which means sadly your furry friends have to stay at home while you hike the great outdoors. The bushland around Mt Coot-tha is a city park – which means they’re free to come along! Hike the track up to the summit, and catch some beautiful city views – and you can even enjoy an ice cream or a café treat at the dog-friendly café at the top.

Head to the markets

Many markets around Brisbane are happy to host you and your dog. The markets in Milton, Carseldine, and many more offer lots of sights, smells, and delicious treats for humans and their furry friends. Wander around and invest in local handmade goods, one-of-a-kind gifts, and fresh produce.

Check out some dog parks

Brisbane is a great place for getting outdoors, and where better than a park designed especially for your pooch. There are over 150 off-leash areas around Brisbane, where you and your pet can exercise, socialise, and enjoy the sunshine. You can find one near you here.

Eat Street

Delicious food, live music, fantastic atmosphere – and your dog can come along! Eat Street Northshore offers a great escape with its pop-up restaurant design and insta-worthy food, and the entertainment is always on point. The entry fee is $5, or $15 for a family of 4 adults – and kids can come in for free. Check out what’s on and plan your visit here.

Dog Friendly Beaches

Let your dog loose to enjoy the sand, sun, and surf at the off-leash, dog-friendly beaches scattered around Brisbane. Red Beach at Bribie Island is a great example, offering a long, sandy stretch for your dog to run and play. Nudgee Beach is always a popular choice with dog owners – best at low tide for extra area to explore. Check out the Sandgate Foreshore for a long stretch of beach with a lovely path to walk if you get tired of the sand. Check out regulations before you go – some areas are off-leash only at restricted times, for example.

Yatala Drive-Through Movies

Take your dog on a date with a difference – the Yatala Drive-in Movies screen all the latest blockbusters, in a nostalgic 1950s setting. Drive up and park your car, and choose whether you sit in front on chairs or blankets, reverse in and sit in the boot, or chill out in your car. Your dog will need to be on-leash and with you at all times, but you can all chill out and enjoy the movie together.

Dog Friendly Destinations in Brisbane

Make the most of the weather and the fantastic facilities by taking your dog out to one of these dog-friendly destinations in Brisbane. It’s a great chance to explore, get some exercise, and who knows? Maybe make some friends along the way. But for all those times when you’re heading away and have to leave your dog behind, choose Castelan to care for your precious pooch.
